Accrediting Reaffirmed for ULM Majors

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business has reaffirmed accreditation of the University of Louisiana-Monroe's majors in business and accounting.

The News-Star reports about 650 business schools in 45 countries and territories are accredited by the association.

The ULM programs are housed in the College of Business.

ULM Releases Audit Findings

An audit of the University of Louisiana at Monroe shows the university is missing funds totaling $58,554 from its Department of Recreational Services as a result of cash control deficiencies.

The audit, released Thursday by the Louisiana legislative auditor, noted that additional funds could be missing because some pre-numbered receipts had been removed from the receipt books and about three months of cash register tapes were not located.

ULM's Small Business Center Gets $2.5M Grant

The University of Louisiana at Monroe has received $2.5 million to fund operations at the Louisiana Small Business Development Center. The funds come from the U.S. Small Business Administration and Louisiana Economic Development.

The News-Star reports the ULM center is a nationally accredited program that provides business consulting to new and existing entrepreneurs for 11 parishes in northeast Louisiana and statewide.

ULM professor settles harassment suit with college

MONROE — An internationally recognized University of Louisiana at Monroe toxicology professor has settled a lawsuit he filed against the university alleging he was harassed and discriminated against after he suffered a stroke five years ago.

The News-Star reports (http://tnsne.ws/OG813H) that the university announced Tuesday that it had reached "an amicable settlement" with Harihara Mehendale in the College of Pharmacy.
