Textron Marine & Land Systems' offices will remain in Slidell for at least another year.

The Textron Inc. division said Wednesday that it has a lease extension through May 31, 2014, with two one-year options, pending approval by the Slidell City Council. The current lease ends in May.

The division makes and supports military vehicles, ships and boats. It has leased offices from Slidell since 2007. Its factory is in eastern New Orleans; it has an assembly plant and a warehouse in Slidell.

Terms of the extension were not disclosed in the company's news release.

The Krewe of Claude has canceled its ball and parade for the 2013 Carnival season, citing a shortage of members.

Krewe officials tell The Times-Picayune the Slidell organization was down to 12 members.

Organization president Mary Ann Hicks blamed bad economic times, and said the krewe will focus on rebounding for the 2014 Carnival season.

The St. Tammany Sheriff's Office says three young men from Slidell are accused of looting thousands of dollars worth of equipment from boats that were docked near Slidell to make them safer from Hurricane Isaac.

Sgt. George Bonnett says 22-year-old Cody Page, 20-year-old Ryan Dussor and a 17-year-old all were arrested and will be booked with looting, which carries a minimum sentence of three years at hard labor and a $5,000 fine.

St. Tammany Parish sheriff's deputies are looking for two men accused of looting thousands of dollars of property from three boats that had been docked near Slidell to protect them from Hurricane Isaac.

Capt. George Bonnett says a 17-year-old was arrested Tuesday on a charge of illegal possession of stolen property that he says the other men took and put on his boat.

Looting during an emergency carries a minimum penalty of three years at hard labor and a $5,000 fine, with up to 10 years and $10,000.

Slidell police say Mayor Freddy Drennan has called a dusk-to-dawn curfew for Hurricane Isaac.

Assistant Chief Kevin Foltz says it probably will be lifted at daylight Thursday.

It won't apply to emergency workers. Foltz says the curfew is designed to keep the roads clear for emergency crews, to protect city residents and to make it easier for police to protect their property.
