GOP Courts Republicans Living In Israel

Both Republicans and Democrats will tell you, the Jewish vote is vital in the upcoming presidential election. And this year, one party is going very far in its efforts to woo Jewish voters, all the way to Israel. Israel is home to a large American community, and for the first time, the Republican Party has crossed the Atlantic to actively campaign.

NPR's Middle East correspondent Lourdes Garcia-Navarro reports that Republican Party envoys find themselves on fertile ground.

Louisiana GOP Divided Over National Convention Delegates

BATON ROUGE — The divvying up of the state Republican Party's delegates to the national convention has melted down into a dispute between party leaders lining up behind presumed nominee Mitt Romney and supporters of libertarian Ron Paul.

If the two sides can't work out their differences, national party officials might be called on to decide which delegates from Louisiana can go to Florida in August.

Louisiana Republicans hold caucus Saturday

Louisiana's Republican Party is holding caucuses Saturday, part of a process to choose delegates who will attend the GOP's presidential nominating convention in August.

GOP voters who participate in the caucuses will elect delegates to the Louisiana Republican State Convention, scheduled for June 2. The delegates to the state convention will choose delegates who will attend the national convention in August.
