Hornets Ground the Rockets, 88-79

The New Orleans Hornets turned a dominant fourth quarter into their third straight win tonight, coming from behind to beat the Houston Rockets at the New Orleans Arena, 88-79.

Roger Mason, Jr. lead the Bees to the win with a perfect quarter, scoring 15 of his season high 17 points in the final period. Mason, in the 4th, was 5-for-5 from the field, including three from downtown, and 2-2 from the free-throw line. The Hornets outscored the Rockets 29-10 in the 4th.

Reinvigorated Hornets Clamp Down on Spurs in 95-88 Win

The New Orleans Hornets came into tonight’s game still hot off their overtime win in Dallas two days before, shutting down the high-flying San Antonio Spurs in front of a raucous crowd at the New Orleans Arena, 95-88.

The Spurs (27-10), were boxed out by a strong New Orleans defensive effort and a yeoman’s effort from Greivis Vasquez and Eric Gordon, who combined for 38 points, 13 assists and 7 rebounds. Vasquez recorded his tenth double-double of the season, and Gordon put up 24 points, 8 of those in the final quarter.

Notes: Hornets/Spurs Matchup

The Hornets have signed guard Donald Sloan to a 10-day contract, the team reported earlier today. Sloan most recently played for the Sioux Falls NBA Development League team, and appeared in 33 NBA games during the 2011-12 season, including three games with the Hornets.

During his time with the Hornets, Sloan averaged 4.0 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.0 rebounds in an average of 13.7 minutes a game.

Hornets Beat the Mavericks in OT, 99-96

Eric Gordon took control in the last minutes of overtime, scoring the New Orleans Hornets’ last 8 points and leading his team to victory on the road against the Dallas Mavericks.

Gordon started his final assault with 1:49 left to play in overtime, driving through the Dallas defense for a reverse lay-up to bring the Bees within one, 94-93. He then knocked down a go-ahead three-pointer, before the Mavericks’ O.J Mayo pulled up for a jumper to tie the game at 96.
