Durant Gets Triple-Double in 119-74 Thunder Rout of Hornets

Russell Westbrook scored 29 points, Kevin Durant recorded his third career triple-double and the Oklahoma City Thunder finished a perfect three-game homestand by routing the short-handed New Orleans Hornets 119-74 on Wednesday night.

Brooklyn Nets Outshoot Hornets 101-97

Deron Williams scored 33 points and the Brooklyn Nets made 12 three-point shots on their way to a 101-97 victory over the New Orleans Hornets Tuesday night at the New Orleans Arena.

The Hornets, who shot only 39.5 percent over the first two quarters and were down by as many as 22 points late in the second quarter, rallied in the second half of the game. New Orleans shooters knocked down 52.3 percent of their shots in the second half, and outscored their opponents 56-44 while trying to regain the advantage.

Hornets Fight Hard But Lose To Mavericks 104-100

The New Orleans Hornets took a four point lead into the final minute of Friday night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks at the New Orleans Arena but couldn’t close, losing 104-100.

The teams exchanged the lead five times in the final period, but New Orleans seemed all but destined to put it away after Ryan Anderson’s 25-foot 3-pointer hit nothing but net with 55 seconds to play, putting the Hornets up 100-96 and sending the crowd into a frenzy for their home team and the free french fries.

Seasoned Bulls Overpower Hornets, 96-87

The New Orleans Hornets kept it close, but were unable to overcome the Chicago Bulls, losing at home Tuesday night, 96-87.

Chicago’s Luol Deng led the victory with 20 points. He was supported by Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah, who combined to contribute 32 points.

Hornets Foundation Taking Shape at All-Star Break

No Free Fries, But A Dominant Win As Hornets Stomp Trail Blazers, 99-63

The New Orleans Hornets put on an impressive performance Wednesday night, crushing the visiting Portland Trail Blazers 99-63.

New Orleans lead by as much as 39 late into the fourth quarter, and dominated in the paint, outscoring the Blazers down low by a 52-26 margin.

Star guard Eric Gordon was scratched from the starting lineup at the last minute due to a sprained hand, but New Orleans hardly needed him. Every Hornets player who dressed put up points tonight, including five players in the double-digits.

Hunter Unveils Reforms at NBA Players' Association

Executive director Billy Hunter has unveiled a series of reforms at the NBA players' association to improve areas that were criticized in a recent review of the union.

Hunter says the NBPA has adopted an anti-nepotism policy. He has fired his daughter, Robyn, and daughter-in-law Megan Inaba will leave her position following the All-Star game next month.

The new policies were first laid out in a letter to a players' committee last week, and were announced in a release from the union Wednesday.

Hunter Fires Family Members From NBA Players Union

Executive director Billy Hunter has fired his daughter and daughter-in-law from the NBA players' association, less than two weeks after a review criticized his hiring practices.

In a letter to the union's special committee of players, dated Jan. 23, Hunter informed them that Robyn Hunter was to be let go as of Jan. 25. Megan Inaba will stay on through the All-Star break to help coordinate activities in Houston before leaving her job on Feb. 17.

Lakers Edge Hornets Tuesday Night, 111-106

Dwight Howard scored 24 points, Kobe Bryant had 14 points and 11 assists in another pass-first performance, and the Los Angeles Lakers hung on to beat the New Orleans Hornets 111-106 Tuesday night for their first three-game winning streak in five weeks.

Earl Clark had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Lakers, whose 18-point lead with 5½ minutes to play dwindled to 102-101 with 2 minutes left before Clark and Steve Nash hit big shots to clinch Los Angeles' ninth straight win over New Orleans.
