A recent study found that the average American hears 100,000 words per day. That's a lot of Tweets! With so much information swirling around us, is it any wonder that Americans may have forgotten the fine art of actually listening to what we hear? Here is a case for listening — to the voices surrounding one of our city's most pressing issues.

Bring Your Own Presents: 'Virginia'

This is a story told by a New Orleans resident at a local event called Bring Your Own. It is a live storytelling pop-up series that takes place in living rooms, backyards and other intimate spaces within the community. Each month, seven storytellers have 7 minutes to respond to a theme with live, unscripted, true stories. 

Hear that? The birds chirping, the construction on Esplanade, yep — New Orleans is back to normal. Jazz Fest came and went, and now it’s up to us to keep having fun. Shouldn’t be that hard:

This week host Diane Mack goes Inside the Arts to talk with playwright and musician Vernel Bagneris about the 35th Anniversary of the One Mo' Time performance at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell.

The chief executive officer of the Zurich Insurance Group played golf and dodged some heavy rain during the Zurich Classic golf tournament in Avondale. Martin Senn also found time to meet with business leaders while in New Orleans, and reaffirm the company’s commitment to the region.

Chef Anne Churchill spends her summers traveling as a cook for one of rock's most popular touring bands and has the stories to prove it. She joins us on Louisiana Eats! to talk about the mammoth responsibilities of cooking at amphitheaters across the country.
