New Orleans, LA – U-S- Army Corps of Engineers Colonel Ed Fleming says engineers are monitoring levee conditions.
"The levees at this point are really not being tested because the surge is not coming into the system that we have just recently built."
Mayor Mitch Landrieu is calling on residents to remain vigilant. Bands of heavy rain and wind are still a threat.
"Just because it's been slow does not mean it's over."
Coastal communities are continuing to fight flooding . Skies are expected to clear midweek as the storm slowly heads north.
For WWNO, I'm Eileen Fleming.
