A teenager from Gretna attempted to use the photo-sharing service Instagram to sell pairs of Air Jordan athletic shoes, and was robbed at gunpoint by his would-be buyers.
Kenner Police Sergeant Brian McGregor said today the 17-year-old victim advertised the sneakers for $160 on Instagram and on Kik, an instant messaging application for smartphones. When the victim showed up to meet a potential buyer Saturday, five people showed up.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayunereports that after group discussed the price, the buyers left to get more money. They returned armed with a pistol and robbed the teen of cash and four pairs of sneakers.
Police have arrested four out of five suspects, and identified the suspects through the phone number that was used to contact the seller.
