Slidell police arrest man for looting attempt

Slidell police say a Picayune, Miss., man tried to force his way into a woman's home just as then-Hurricane Isaac made landfall.

The Times-Picayune reports 39-year-old Warren Reavis was booked Wednesday with attempted looting and possession of a burglary tool, in this case a screwdriver.

Detectives say the victim of the attempted break-in was watching the news in a back bedroom of her home when she heard a loud banging noise coming from the front. She went to see what the noise was, spotted Reavis allegedly prying at her backdoor, and dialed 911.

Police say Reavis fled to a nearby house where he was staying with friends.

Police Chief Randy Smith credited the arrest to the increased number of officers patrolling Slidell streets during Isaac.
