Qualifying Slated for March 2 Special Election

Qualifying begins Wednesday for the March 2 special election to elect two state representatives, one from Central and another from Metairie.

The Advocate reports qualifying continues until Friday at 5 p.m.

The special elections, which will have April 6 runoffs if necessary, will replace state Reps. Clif Richardson, R-Central, who retired for health reasons, and Tony Ligi, R-Metairie, who resigned to take another job.

Early voting for the March 2 primary election is Feb. 16 to 23, except Sunday, Feb. 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
