The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that they are exercising their third-year contract options on forwards Anthony Davis and Austin Rivers.
Exercising the option means both players will be under contract with the team this year, and through the end of next season.
Davis was the first overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. He started 60 or the 64 games he played in last season, averaging 13.5 points, 1.8 blocks and 1.2 steals. Davis was a 2013-13 NBA All-Rookie First Team member, leading all rookies in per-game rebounds, steals, blocks and double-doubles.
Rivers was the tenth overall pick in the 2012 draft, averaging 6.2 points, 2.1 assists and 1.8 rebounds per game over the 61 games he appeared in.
