New Orleans, La. – Price has been on the Mandeville City Council for 16 years, and served as mayor for 13. But the past couple of years have been full of legal problems. In April 2008, Price crashed his city vehicle through a toll booth on the Causeway and later admitted he'd been drinking. Four months later, a state audit found Price accepted lavish vacations from businesses with city contracts, and charged questionable expenses on city credit cards. In August of this year, he was indicted on a state perjury charge. Last month, a federal grand jury heard testimony from the Mandeville City Council on service contracts. He's reportedly now negotiating a plea deal with federal authorities. Meantime, the council will schedule a special election to fill Price's term, which ends in 2012.
