Chalmette Motorcyclist Dies in Crash with Big Rig

Louisiana State Police say a trucker from Mississippi was booked with improper turning and negligent homicide after a wreck that killed a motorcyclist.

Trooper Melissa Matey says 64-year-old Maxime Daboval Jr. died Saturday evening when his motorcycle collided with a 2011 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by 60-year-old Terry Dunn of Columbia, Miss.

She says in a news release that both were traveling west on Louisiana Highway 46 in Chalmette, with the motorcycle in the left lane and the tractor-trailer partly on the right shoulder when the big rig began to turn left into Daboval's path.

Dunn remained in jail Sunday. It was not clear whether he had an attorney.
