Tulane Energy Expert Says Opening Oil Reserves Will Drop Gas Prices Temporarily

New Orleans, La. – Eric Smith says tapping the reserve for 30 days at a million barrels a day will likely lower prices, but the effect will be temporary.

"Probably a month from now you could expect to see some effect on gasoline prices, but it will only last for a month because everyone who deals in oil and gas knows it's only a 30-day program."

UNO Could Merge Into University of Louisiana System

New Orleans, La. – The proposal comes after Governor Jindal failed to merge UNO with Southern University of New Orleans, a move that was strongly opposed by SUNO students and administrators. The switch to the University of Louisiana system is seen as a good fit by some at UNO. Susan Krantz is dean of the College of Liberal Arts.
