World-Renowned New Orleans Songwriter, Pianist, Producer and Arranger Allen Toussaint To Play Jazz Fest April 30th and May 1st

New Orleans – New Orleans songwriter, pianist, producer and arranger Allen Toussaint - a Rock'n'Roll Hall of Famer - will perform twice at Jazz Fest - a set of his classic tunes on Friday, April 30th - and selections from his Grammy-nominated jazz cd "The Bright Mississippi" in the Jazz Tent on Saturday, May 1st.

Chilean President Visits New Orleans

New Orleans, La. – A magnitude 8-point-8 earthquake devastated the South American country on February 27th. President Sebastian Pinera met with officials at the port of New Orleans for long-term advice.
Mayor Ray Nagin advised the government to quickly funnel money to local agencies, and get sturdy modular housing for temporary shelter. He said it could take as long as 15 years to fully recover.
Pinera is in Washington for a summit on nuclear weapons and energy technology.
