City Cracking Down On Illegal Vendors Around Superdome

The City of New Orleans issued a reminder to vendors in the vicinity of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome today, saying that the city's Department of Finance and the New Orleans Police Department will be strictly enforcing vending ordinances during Saints home games.

Vendors who have not obtained permits to sell items such as clothing, bottled water, alcoholic beverages or other merchandise will be issued summonses and have to appear in Municipal Court. The city says the crackdown is intended to protect business owners who have valid vending licenses.

Zephyr Field is affectionately known as the "Shrine on Airline" — a 10,000-seat stadium next door to the Saints and Pelicans practice facility that is host to New Orleans's own professional baseball team.

The New Orleans Zephyrs are the AAA-affiliate of the Miami Marlins, which means our local team is the last step for these players on their long journey to the major leagues.

It is two minutes to game time. The players are amped up, suited up and huddled around their coach for one last pep talk before heading to the field. But this team probably isn’t what usually comes to mind when people think of professional football.
