New Orleans Saints Thrash Visiting Miami Dolphins In 38-17 Monday Night Victory

It was another record-setting night for Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints offense, as they dispatched the visiting Miami Dolphins 38-17 in the Superdome.

The Saints made it look easy, dominating the Miami Dolphins on both sides of the ball in their ninth straight Monday Night Football victory.

Darren Sproles and Jimmy Graham combined for four touchdowns, and the Saints’ now-stellar defense forced three interceptions and a fumble out of Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

New Orleans City Hall To Close Early For Saints Game

New Orleans City Hall will close at 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, in advance of the evening Saints game in the Superdome.

The city says the early closing time is due to an expected increase in traffic that will impact and limit access to city hall for residents. City hall is scheduled to resume normal business hours on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

The Monday Night Football game against the Miami Dolphins (3-0) is scheduled to kick off at 7:40 p.m.

New Orleans Saints Overcome First Half Woes In 31-7 Win Over Arizona Cardinals

The New Orleans Saints are still undefeated, after their 31-7 victory over the Arizona Cardinals Sunday at home in the Superdome.

The Arizona Cardinals spent five minutes and forty-seven seconds marching down the field on the first possession of the game.

It was the only time they would score.

In a dramatic turnaround from last season, it was the Saints young defense who stood up to make the big plays, keeping Arizona off the field and giving quarterback Drew Brees and company the space to work.

Getting together to watch the New Orleans Saints play is a special ritual for New Orleanians — but for half the season our beloved boys in black and gold are on the road, so we cram together in barrooms and living rooms to cheer them on, rather than fill up the Superdome.

We’re chronicling those other places that mean so much to us, from corner bars to TV studios to living rooms.

Dramatic Last-Moment Field Goal Seals Saints Victory Over Tampa Bay, 16-14

Garrett Hartley’s game-clinching 27-yard field goal with five seconds left capped a wild Sunday night in Tampa Bay and sent the New Orleans Saints home with a win over the Buccaneers, 16-14.

It took the Saints just over a minute to drive 54 yards back down the field, after Tampa Bay’s own missed field goal, to set Hartley up to make the kick. The team was down by one, thanks to an earlier missed kick, and the points they gave back trying and failing to score a one-yard touchdown with just seconds to go in the first half.

Last-Minute Heroics Help The Saints Top Atlanta, 23-17

Hundreds of newspapers dot the seats after the Saints beat the Atlanta Falcons, 23-17. Each seat in the Superdome had a special edition of the Advocate placed on it before the game.

The New Orleans Saints beat the Atlanta Falcons at home in the Superdome Sunday afternoon, in a rollicking game that came down to the wire, as many games between these two rivals often do.

The Falcons offense, taking advantage of an invigorated but still-shaky Saints secondary, marched down the field with time expiring, but rookie safety Kenny Vaccaro tipped Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan’s fourth-down bullet with less than a minute to play, and Roman Harper intercepted it in the end zone.

When Devon Walker returned to the Tulane University campus last week, he was greeted with kisses in the hallways. Students and faculty applauded him.

One year ago this weekend, in the second game of the football season, Walker, a team captain for Tulane, went in for a tackle and broke his neck. He was paralyzed from the shoulders down.

For months, he recovered far from home in two different hospitals. But now he's back in Louisiana and re-enrolling at Tulane, in New Orleans.
