With 2 Picks, Hornets Eagerly Await Lottery Fate

There finally could be some good news for the Hornets, who suffered through a miserable season as part of the fallout from the Chris Paul trade.

The deal that led to lots of losing in New Orleans also yielded two picks in Wednesday night's NBA draft lottery.

With luck — something that has been in short supply for the Hornets lately — New Orleans could end up with two of the top overall picks in the June 28 draft.

Or if the tough luck continues, the worst-case scenario is that they'll pick seventh and 13th overall.

New Saints president to teach Loyola class

Dennis Lauscha, a graduate of Loyola University and the newly promoted president of the New Orleans Saints, will return to his alma mater to teach a course on the business of professional football at the university's inaugural Alumni College.

Saints Upbeat Despite Brees' Absence

The New Orleans Saints say they have the experience and leadership to have productive offseason practices even without their star quarterback. New Orleans is holding its first three offseason practices, called organized team activities, Tuesday through Thursday. Drew Brees is still holding out for a new contract.

Saints Shift Executive Staff

Rita Benson LeBlanc will become vice chairman of the board of the New Orleans Saints and Dennis Lauscha will take over as president of the team.

Owner Tom Benson has announced Sunday that LeBlanc, his granddaughter, will expand her duties to include more management responsibilities in various Benson interests outside of the team.

Lawmakers Ask NFL to Reconsider Saints Penalties

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The Louisiana Legislature is asking the NFL to reconsider the penalties imposed on the New Orleans Saints because of its bounty program.

The formal request received final legislative passage with a 28-1 Senate vote Monday.

In the resolution, lawmakers say there is "widespread public opinion throughout the state of Louisiana and beyond that the penalties imposed upon the Saints are too harsh and should be reconsidered."
