Moses Malone, Spencer Haywood, Cazzie Russell and Mark Eaton are among retired professional basketball stars offering their company in an Aug. 17 fishing tournament to benefit Children's Hospital of New Orleans.

For $2,000, each three-angler team gets a boat, a local guide and a big-name angler to fill out the team. They also can attend an Aug. 18 gala with more than 100 former NBA players.

The tournament will be at Joe's Landing in Lafitte.

Last week's report by former FBI Director Louis Freeh confirmed what many said all along, that the Penn State child sex scandal was the biggest and most damaging in college sports history. Now that the report has been released, the focus is turning to the NCAA and what action it will take, if any.

The bucking bull has long been the embodiment of the American rodeo, and it takes just four seconds for a strong young bull to reap its owner as much as $50,000 in prize money.

Four seconds is how long each 1- or 2-year-old bull will wear a weight strapped to its back as the massive animal is judged on how high it kicks and how much it twists.

In the past 10 years, bucking bulls have become a major industry. The price of the best bloodlines can soar to $250,000, and competitions take place everywhere from Madison Square Garden to Wyoming.

Ruston High School football players will have a new facility to work in this fall.

The Daily Leader reports (http://bit.ly/NkP1ew) equipment was being moved into more than 100 lockers at the new 19,000 square-foot field house this past week.

The building is named after coach Jimmy "Chick" Childress.

The school's football coach and athletic director, Billy Laird, said the old field house had been in use since 1952 and was around 1,000 square feet in size.
