Thousands of people came out to enjoy the races and the new infield festival, held in an area familiar to many as the home of the Jazz Fest. The festival included live music and a line up of some of the city's most popular food trucks, and helped spur on-track betting to its second-highest total in history, according to information released by the track.
Greivis Vasquez scored 25 points and Ryan Anderson added 23 to lead the New Orleans Hornets to a 112-92 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night.
Anthony Davis had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Brian Roberts scored 15 and Eric Gordon 14 for the Hornets, who snapped a two-game losing streak, including a blowout loss to Miami on Friday. Davis' double-double was his 17th, tops among NBA rookies.
The New Orleans Hornets were routed by the Miami Heat Friday night at the New Orleans Arena, 108-89.
The Hornets never had a chance. LeBron James devastated their defense early in the first quarter, putting up 15 points in the first period alone. James, the league’s leader in efficiency stats (32.2 EFF), scored 36 points on 65% shooting, and sat the entire fourth quarter.
James fired home a season high seven three pointers, six during a thirteen minute span during which he sank every field goal he attempted and all but one of his free throws.
