Over the weekend, I attended the White House Correspondents Association Dinner as part of the NPR contingent. On Saturday morning, before the party, I went to Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda to visit with some wounded soldiers and marines, and I wrote up my experience here.

Few bands ever enjoy the kind of success fun. (yes, it's all lowercase, with a period) has experienced since its ridiculously catchy single "We Are Young" caught fire earlier this year. The song, a wistful but celebratory take on coming of age, was featured on the TV show Glee, appeared in a Super Bowl ad for Chevy and has sold millions of copies, turning the once-obscure indie-pop group into one of the most adored bands of the year.

Five Surviving Exotic Animals To Be Given To Ohio Man's Widow

Ohio officials have decided they will hand over five animals to the widow of a man who last October paralyzed a community by releasing 56 lions, tigers, bears and other exotic animals from his farm.

1 World Trade Center Set To Claim Spot Atop NYC's Skyline Today

With the addition of some steel columns, 1 World Trade Center has reached a height of symbolic importance.

At 1,271 feet (and growing) it is 21 feet taller than the observation deck on the Empire State Building.
