Take Five: For Filmmaker, 'Tradition Is A Temple'

People come from all over the world to experience traditional New Orleans music. But not everyone has that privilege. For those who can't make the trip, a new documentary may be the next best thing.  

When Darren Hoffman heard the song "Discipline Strikes Again" by Jason Marsalis, something clicked in his mind.

“When I heard this, it was one of the first times in many years that I was inspired to create a music video,” says Hoffman.

There will be citywide gallery openings, including Water, a body of work by internationally renowned photographer Edward Burtynsky, on view at the CAC.

N.O. Film Fest to show "Explore" Documentaries

Tuesday afternoon, the New Orleans Film Festival will be showing two films from Explore, an organization that films and photographs leaders and non-profits in order to identify potential Annenberg Grant recipients.

Orca Guardians and Spiritual India will be shown Tuesday, October 14, at 3:30 p.m. at the Contemporary Arts Center. The New Orleans Film Festival schedule is available at neworleansfilmfest.com.
