Louisiana ArtWorks Building To Become Culinary Institute

The Louisiana ArtWorks building on Lee Circle has sat vacant for years, but will now become a culinary institute.

A brand new culinary institute has been approved for the site of the former Louisiana ArtWorks building on Howard Avenue. The New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute won the bidding over two other competitors.

Tyler Bridges of The Lens talked with WWNO News Director Eve Troeh about the details of the $6 million deal.

The Lens: Two Groups Vie For Vacant ArtWorks Building

The ArtWorks building, near Lee Circle, has attracted the interest of start-up incubator Launch Pad, as well as a rival bid from proponents of a culinary school.

The ArtWorks building near Lee Circle is up for sale once again. The $25 million, 93,000-square-foot building was built as a creative space for artists, but closed its doors 2 years ago after having financial trouble. Now, two groups are bidding to purchase the space.

Stirling will manage Taylor Energy Building

Stirling Properties has been awarded a contract to manage the Taylor Energy Building on Lee Circle. The 30,000-square-foot building is owned by the Taylor Foundation.

Terms were not disclosed in the announcement on Monday.
