Man Killed in Shooting in Norco

The St. Charles Sheriff's Office says a man has been killed in a shooting at an apartment in Norco.

A news release from the department says 21-year-old Jay Bertucci died from a gunshot to the chest. Detectives say Bertucci was home with two other people when he answered a knock at the door.

A man at the door allegedly pointed a gun at Bertucci and shot him in the chest when Bertucci grabbed the gun.

Authorities are looking for three suspects who fled the scene on foot.

NOPD: Men Dug Thorugh Wall to Burglarize Store

Police are searching for two men who dug through a cinderblock wall to burglarize a convenience store in New Orleans East.

The Times-Picayune reports that surveillance cameras showed the unidentified men climb through a hole in the wall of the Family Ranch Market and enter the store through a cooler door.

The men had fled by the time police officers responded to the store's alarm early Saturday.

They allegedly stole an undisclosed amount of merchandise and $100 from the cash register.

Slidell Krewe Cancels 2013 Parade

The Krewe of Claude has canceled its ball and parade for the 2013 Carnival season, citing a shortage of members.

Krewe officials tell The Times-Picayune the Slidell organization was down to 12 members.

Organization president Mary Ann Hicks blamed bad economic times, and said the krewe will focus on rebounding for the 2014 Carnival season.

St. Bernard Names Finance Director

Ross Gonzales has been appointed director of finance for St. Bernard Parish.

Gonzales, a certified public accountant, is a University of New Orleans graduate. He replaces Beverly Gariepy, who recently accepted a position with St. Tammany Parish government.

Gonzales has served as housing and redevelopment coordinator for St. Bernard since last January.
