Kenner Voters to Decide on Politics Ban

Kenner voters will go to the polls in November to decide whether to change the city's Home Rule Charter to prohibit city workers from participating in politics.

Councilman Keith Reynaud proposed the measure. He says it's a good-government concept and the proposal stems from his campaign for election in April.

Kenner visitors bureau misspent thousands

 

BATON ROUGE — The state Legislative Auditor has released a report that accuses the director and a board member of the Kenner Convention and Visitors Bureau of misusing public funds.

The charges of possible misspending, in an audit released Monday, include more than $200,000 given to the board president and his daughter, thousands of dollars in undocumented credit card spending, improper advances to an employee and Christmas bonuses the director gave himself.

N.O. Airport Wants Renovations Done by Super Bowl

Louisiana's major airport is trying to finish several renovation projects before the 2013 Super Bowl in New Orleans.

New Orleans CityBusiness said the Louis Armstrong International Airport is planning for 42,000 visitors leaving the city the day after the game.

Airport spokeswoman Michelle Wilcut says a new parking garage is about 65 percent complete. The exterior of the terminal is being remodeled to feature a glass front. The interior is getting new lighting, carpeting and painting.
