A 15-year-old girl who was burned when she was trapped in a Marrero fire last week has died.
Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies say Diante Snowton died Monday night at Children's Hospital, where she was being treated for injuries suffered during the Jan. 10 fire.
Five other siblings and their father, who authorities said ran into the flames to rescue the children, survived.
Deputies say investigators are still trying to determine how the fire started.
Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies say an 83-year-old woman was raped in her Marrero home after she interrupted a burglary.
Deputies arrested a suspect, 51-year-old Kenneth Adams, and booked him with aggravated rape, aggravated burglary, simple robbery, resisting an officer, battery on a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of stolen property.
Col. John Fortunato tells The Times-Picayune the rape was reported shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday.
The grocery manager and another employee at a Wal-Mart store in Marrero have been arrested in an alleged scheme to steal Apple iPads from the store.
The Times-Picayunereports that manager Kenneth Rancifer, 33, of Harvey, and Robert Brown, 51, of New Orleans, were arrested Tuesday and booked with theft of property worth more than $1,500, according to Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office arrest reports.
