Murder Suspect Arrested In Texas; 3 Children Safe

A suburban New Orleans man wanted in death of a woman found bludgeoned to death in her bathtub has been arrested in Texas and the three children he disappeared with have been found.

Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies say in a news release 43-year-old Pedro Alberto Monterroso-Navas, of Metairie, was arrested in a trailer park in Katy, Texas, late Sunday night. He faces a second-degree murder charge.

Col. John Fortunato, a sheriff's office spokesman, says his three children who were with him at the time of his arrest are safe.

JPSO: 2 Men Shot Dozens Of Vehicle Windows

Sheriff's detectives have charged two men with shooting out windows of at least 166 vehicles in Jefferson Parish.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand says detectives on Tuesday arrested 19-year-old Christopher Flanagan and 20-year-old Dacotah Hamilton, both of Marrero, charging them with 42 counts of misdemeanor and felony criminal damage.

It's not clear if either man has a lawyer.

Marrero Teenager Dies in Hospital After House Fire

A 15-year-old girl who was burned when she was trapped in a Marrero fire last week has died.

Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies say Diante Snowton died Monday night at Children's Hospital, where she was being treated for injuries suffered during the Jan. 10 fire.

Five other siblings and their father, who authorities said ran into the flames to rescue the children, survived.

Deputies say investigators are still trying to determine how the fire started.

Man Booked with Raping 83-year-old Marrero Woman

Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies say an 83-year-old woman was raped in her Marrero home after she interrupted a burglary.

Deputies arrested a suspect, 51-year-old Kenneth Adams, and booked him with aggravated rape, aggravated burglary, simple robbery, resisting an officer, battery on a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of stolen property.

Col. John Fortunato tells The Times-Picayune the rape was reported shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday.

Housekeeper Accused of Stealing from Clients

Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies have arrested a housekeeper for allegedly stealing from the Metairie homes she was hired to clean.

The Times-Picayune reports 32-year-old Kelley Jaye, of Metairie, was booked Wednesday with three counts of theft.

Deputies say Jaye is accused of stealing more than $7,000 worth of jewelry and other property from three homes.

Sheriff's Office Spokesman Glen Boyd said investigators don't expect any additional charges in the cases. None of the jewelry has been recovered.

2 Wal-Mart Employees Arrested in iPad Theft Scheme

The grocery manager and another employee at a Wal-Mart store in Marrero have been arrested in an alleged scheme to steal Apple iPads from the store.

The Times-Picayune reports that manager Kenneth Rancifer, 33, of Harvey, and Robert Brown, 51, of New Orleans, were arrested Tuesday and booked with theft of property worth more than $1,500, according to Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office arrest reports.

Man Killed in Harvey Shooting

Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies are investigating a fatal shooting in Harvey.

Deputies say 48-year-old Troy Hensley, of Harvey, was shot to death Monday evening.

Officers heard gunshots and found Hensley death in a parking area. Several spent bullet casings were found at the scene.

Detectives have yet to determine a motive or suspects in the case.

15-year-old killed in Metairie shooting

Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies say a 15-year-old New Orleans boy was shot and killed in the midst of a large crowd in Metairie.

Col. John Fortunato identified the victim of Thursday night's shooting as Joey Davis.

Fortunato says a deputy responding to a disturbance call on nearby street spotted the crowd, heard gunshots and saw the crowd scatter, leaving behind a young man lying on the ground.

The deputy chased an armed suspect who was seen running into an alleyway, but the gunman managed to get away.

Toddler injured in Metairie hit-and-run

A 32-year-old was arrested Wednesday night after a 2-year-year-old girl was injured in a hit-and-run accident, Jefferson Parish authorities say.

The Times-Picayune reports sheriff's deputies booked Jesus Isaac Lopez with felony hit-and-run, vehicular negligent injuring and operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States.

Deputies said the incident happened about 6:15 p.m. in a parking lot on Hessmer Avenue in Metairie. The injured girl was taken to nearby East Jefferson General Hospital.

Suspected murder-suicide in Jefferson

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent murder-suicide in the community of Jefferson.

A statement from Sheriff Newell Normand reports said the shooting was reported Saturday morning after a man found his parents at their home.

Homicide investigators said it appears that 89-year-old Branighan shot his wife, 89-year-old Clara Branighan then turned the gun on himself.
