New Orleans Pelicans Open Season With 95-90 Loss To Pacers

The New Orleans Pelicans came out strong against the visiting Indiana Pacers, opening a revamped New Orleans Arena for their first regular season game and introducing mascot Pierre the Pelican to a social media uproar.

But the team couldn’t ride the excitement through the half. The Pacers, coming off the first of a back-to-back and without injured F/G Danny Granger, crawled their way back from a 16-point second quarter deficit to take the win, 95-90.

Hornets Watch 22-Point Lead Evaporate In Loss To Pacers, 81-75

The New Orleans Hornets blew a 17-point halftime lead on the back of their now-customary third quarter sluggishness Saturday night, losing at home to the Indiana Pacers, 81-75.

The Hornets, coming off last night’s 99-94 loss to San Antonio, came out strong to start the game, stripping the Pacers at every opportunity and giving a rare show of power inside. New Orleans shot 42.1 percent in the first quarter, including 10 points in the paint, and converted 7 Indiana turnovers for 7 points.

Tonight's Matchup: Pacers at the Hornets

The New Orleans Hornets return home tonight after a long road trip to face the Indiana Pacers, tipping-off at 7 p.m.

The Hornets have lost their last 10 straight, the last win back on Dec. 3 when they pulled out all the stops in overcoming the Milwaukee Bucks 102-81 at home.

Hornets Head Coach Monty Williams doesn’t think it feels strange to return to the Arena after losing on the road the night before.
