Governor Bobby Jindal and his security detail were involved in a car crash in Baton Rouge at approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, according to WBRZ-TV.

The station said the governor was riding in a black Chevrolet Suburban when a box truck sideswiped his vehicle at Nicholson Drive near Oklahoma Street. Additionally:

Louisiana State Police say a trucker from Mississippi was booked with improper turning and negligent homicide after a wreck that killed a motorcyclist.

Trooper Melissa Matey says 64-year-old Maxime Daboval Jr. died Saturday evening when his motorcycle collided with a 2011 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by 60-year-old Terry Dunn of Columbia, Miss.

A Louisiana State Police lieutenant was injured while getting out of his marked SUV on Interstate 10.

Trooper Melissa Matey says Lt. Robert Hodges was struck Saturday when a driver swerved onto the right shoulder in an apparent effort to avoid upcoming slowed traffic.

Hodges is being treated at East Jefferson General Hospital.

Matey says 20-year-old McCaskill, of Donaldsonville, was driving a car in the left lane of the highway. Troopers say traffic in front of McCaskill began to slow down, and he swerved into the right lane and right shoulder.

Authorities say two people died and a third was injured when an 18-wheeler in which they were riding ran off Interstate 12 near Lacombe, struck a tree and caught fire.

State police tell The Times-Picayune the injured person was taken to the Interim LSU Public Hospital in New Orleans with serious injuries.

Identities of the victims were not immediately released.

The tractor-trailer rig ran off the highway's eastbound lanes near the Lacombe exit in St. Tammany Parish.

Police say an 8-year-old boy was killed when a sport utility vehicle he was in lost control in a curve in an off ramp of Interstate 10 in eastern New Orleans.

The Times-Picayune reports that the boy was identified as Adrian Antoine III of New Orleans. Antoine was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver and three other passengers remained in critical condition Sunday.
