Baldwin: Didn't Invest in Oil Cleanup Devices

Actor Stephen Baldwin says nobody asked him to invest any money or join Kevin Costner in lobbying BP to use oil cleanup devices that the two actors were touting in the aftermath of the 2010 spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Baldwin testified Monday at a trial for his lawsuit against Costner over a multimillion-dollar business dispute involving the cleanup devices.

Costner Testifies in Suit Over Oil-Cleanup Devices

Actor Kevin Costner has testified in the trial of a lawsuit in New Orleans that he was heartbroken watching the Gulf oil spill disaster in 2010 and headed to the area with oil cleanup devices to aid the recovery.

Costner testified yesterday in connection with a multimillion-dollar business dispute over the devices involving fellow actor Stephen Baldwin.

Lawmakers Dedicate Oil Spill Fines to Louisiana Coast

BATON ROUGE — Fine and penalty money the state receives because of the Gulf Coast oil spill will be earmarked to Louisiana's coastal protection fund, under a bill that received final legislative passage.

The measure by Jeanerette Rep. Simone Champagne deals with money that could be received by the state for violations of federal pollution standards, a figure that could total billions of dollars. The coastal protection fund, where the money would be placed, is used for coastal restoration projects and hurricane protection efforts.

Trial Opens For Suit Against Costner Over BP Deal

Two Hollywood stars could spend the next two weeks in a New Orleans courtroom rather than on camera, on opposite sides in a real-life legal drama.

Jury selection is scheduled Monday for Stephen Baldwin's federal lawsuit against fellow actor Kevin Costner over their investments in a device BP used in trying to clean up the huge Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

Both are expected to testify. U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman says every litigant must be in court every day because of the seriousness of the claims and in case of mid-trial settlement talks.
