Baton Rouge airport likely to cancel flights

The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport is advising all flights scheduled to arrive this evening or Wednesday will most likely be canceled. The flight schedule on Thursday will be based on forecasted weather conditions.

Travelers should check with their airline to confirm if their flight is affected. Travelers can find a list of airlines serving BTR on the airport's website.

St. John the Baptist Parish curfew begins

St. John the Baptist Parish began a curfew at 6 p.m. this evening, according to the parish's website. All residents are advised to stay inside their homes, and all businesses have been ordered closed.

The curfew will continue until further notice.

Transportation Department Restaging Buses

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that it is in the process of restaging its busing assets to locations outside of the potential path of the storm and away from flood zones to ensure they are accessible for citizens' future use.

DOTD will maintain 10 coaches, one van and one pet carrier at Zephyr field if an immediate need arises.

A&M vs. La. Tech game postponed because of Isaac

Texas A&M and Louisiana Tech have decided to postpone Thursday night's season opener in Shreveport because of Hurricane Isaac's forecast path through Louisiana.

The game has been rescheduled until Oct. 13, which had been an open date for both teams.

Louisiana Tech Athletic Director Bruce Van de Velde says university officials, who announced the postponement on Tuesday, are concerned about the safety of the athletes and fans, and want to conscientious of the effect the storm could have on residents throughout the region.

Coast Guard suspends search for missing Fla. man

The Coast Guard temporarily suspended the search for a missing water scooter rider near the Alabama-Florida state line when rain and wind from Hurricane Isaac reduced visibility to almost zero.

Lt. j.g. Timothy Williams said three aircraft had been looking for the 47-year-old Air Force retiree from Pensacola, Fla., but the last aircraft landed about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday when the conditions became too bad. He said they had covered an area stretching from Fort Pickens on Pensacola Beach toward Mobile Bay.
