The Republican National Convention will come to order at 2 p.m. in Tampa, Fla., and then quickly go into recess. Because of Tropical Storm Isaac, the main events have been delayed until Tuesday. This is the second convention in a row where the GOP had to delay the opening because of bad weather.

More Louisiana evacuations include all of St. Charles Parish

St. Charles Parish officials have ordered evacuation for all 53,000 residents as Tropical Storm Isaac's path moves west.

Parish spokeswoman Renee Simpson says the order was made Sunday evening because conditions are expected to worsen. It's the largest evacuation so far in southeast Louisiana, where 15 parishes are under a hurricane warning.

Administration Commissioner Paul Rainwater says state offices in all 15 affected parishes will be closed Monday.

Mandatory evacuation ordered for east bank of Plaquemines Parish

Plaquemines Parish officials have ordered a mandatory evacuation of the east bank of the parish, in advance of Tropical Storm Isaac.

Additionally, there will be a voluntary evacuation for the south end of Plaquemines Parish, from Ironton to Venice. Belle Chasse Auditorium will be opened at noon on Monday as an emergency shelter.

All Plaquemines Parish schools have been closed until further notice.

St. Charles Parish announces mandatory evacuation

The St. Charles Parish Emergency Operations Center has called a mandatory evacuation for both East and West Bank residents as of 6 p.m. Aug. 26 due to the threat of dangerous storm surge and winds from Tropical Storm Isaac. Jefferson Parish declares State of Emergency

Jefferson Parish has declared a State of Emergency in advance of the effect of Tropical Storm Isaac, the parish said in a press release.

Parish President John Young signed the emergency declaration earlier this afternoon, and the parish's Emergency Management office will be closely monitoring the storm, the parish said.

All pump stations requiring manning will be fully staffed for the duration of the storm and its aftermath.

Grand Isle evacuating; hurricane warning in SE Louisiana

Evacuation has begun on Louisiana's only inhabited barrier island as Tropical Storm Isaac's path moves west, and was ordered Monday for about 2,000 Plaquemines Parish residents.

Gov. Bobby Jindal called a state of emergency, suggesting people leave low-lying parts of 15 coastal parishes where the National Weather Service called a hurricane warning. He says that if Isaac remains a threat to Louisiana, he may skip the Republican National Convention.

Jindal may skip GOP convention because of Isaac

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal says he's considering skipping his speaking engagement at Republican National Convention because of Tropical Storm Isaac.

Jindal said at a news conference Sunday afternoon that he wouldn't leave his state while it's threatened by the storm. Around the time he spoke, a hurricane warning was issued for parts of the state east of Morgan City, which includes the New Orleans area.

He also called a state of emergency in Louisiana and suggested that people leave low-lying parts of coastal parishes.

Greetings from Tampa, where that old phrase "the calm before the storm" has never been more appropriate.

Tropical storm Isaac is now looking like it will make landfall somewhere along the Gulf Coast from Louisiana east to the Florida Panhandle. And when it gets there Tuesday or Wednesday, the National Hurricane Center is warning, Isaac could be a Category 2 hurricane.
