WWNO's Schedule Has Changed

At WWNO we're constantly engaged in a conversation with you — your suggestions, criticisms, ideas and desires (and donations!) are the critical components in making New Orleans Public Radio a success. We evaluate every listener comment and, periodically, make changes to our schedule to reflect our community's evolving priorities.

We're also in constant conversation with our local and national content partners, and have to adjust along with their decisions.

Beginning Monday, August 4, we're rolling out a series of schedule changes — learn more about our new and expanded program offerings below. Send your questions, comments and concerns to comments@wwno.org — and thanks.

Changes begin 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 4

Monday - Friday 2-3 p.m.  BBC Newshour
Monday - Friday 3-6 p.m. All Things Considered

This combination replaces Tell Me More and The World. We regret NPR found it necessary to cancel Tell Me More. We also regret that we must discontinue airing a fine program like The World, but we no longer carry sufficient programs from Public Radio International (which distributes The World) to justify the continued PRI affiliation. By adding BBC Newshour we aim to continue to provide listeners with an excellent, globally respected source of international news.

Adding an hour of All Things Considered will give more listeners the chance to hear more of both hours of this popular and respected news magazine, and will give WWNO more opportunities in the schedule to air local news reports as we continue to strengthen our local reporting capability.

Friday 1-2 p.m.  Here and Now

We will air the second hour of Here and Now on Fridays in place of Science Friday, a fine program that we must give up when we end our affiliation with PRI.

Monday - Friday 12-5 a.m.  BBC World Service

Numerous listeners have encouraged us to resume airing BBC World Service in the early morning hours. This allows our audience to hear reports about international and national news developments overnight. Classical music is available around the clock on WWNO2 via HD radio or our internet stream.

Saturday 6-7 a.m.  Travel with Rick Steves

The program is moving from its current spot on Sundays at 1 p.m.

Sunday 1-2 p.m.  America's Test Kitchen

This radio version of the popular TV program has been an exciting addition to other stations' schedules, and we believe that the many food-lovers among our listeners will welcome this program alongside The Splendid Table and Louisiana Eats!
