WHEW DAT: Saints Eke Out Overtime Win

The Saints managed to eke out their second win of the season in the Superdome on Sunday, besting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in overtime, 37-31.

The Saints have now won 10 straight in the Superdome. It was a less-than-impressive victory, punctuated by Drew Brees interceptions, an inability to capitalize on Tampa Bay penalties — and an overly loud train noise piped in over the Dome PA system that caused an uproar on social media and local talk radio.

New Orleans lost center Jonathan Goodwin to a knee injury, tight end Jimmy Graham to a shoulder injury, and linebacker Ramon Humber to an ankle injury. All three left the game and did not return.

The Saints now head into their bye week, an opportune time for film study and recuperation. Head Coach Sean Payton:

“We still have a lot of things we need to work on. The key for us now is get rested here, get some guys healthy, and get ready for a pretty good Detroit team. A really good Detroit team.”

The Saints will face the Lions in Detroit on October 19. That game kicks off at noon.

Around the state: Auburn walloped the LSU Tigers, 41-7... Tulane had a much-needed week off... Southern University won their homecoming game... and UL Lafayette improved to 2-3 with a conference win over Georgia State.
