The closure of the master's program in romance languages at the University of New Orleans has been postponed, NOLA.com reports.
At a meeting of the University of Louisiana Board of Supervisors last week, faculty and staff in the foreign languages department questioned the low enrollment numbers used in a report about restructuring the programs.
Richard Hansen is the interim vice president for academic affairs at UNO. He said in a statement issued Wednesday that that the decision to discontinue the M.A. in romance languages had been postponed, pending a review of the program's enrollment numbers through the fall semester in 2015.
According to NOLA.com, notices sent to three Spanish instructors announcing their termination in May 2015 were rescinded.
