The Coast Guard has rescued two men who were aboard an airplane that crashed in the Gulf of Mexico.
Theodore Wright and Raymond Fosdick, both of Baytown, Texas, were located in the water Thursday after their airplane went down about 28 miles east of South Pass. Wright declined medical attention, while Fosdick was taken to New Orleans area hospital.
The Coast Guard says the men were flying from Baytown to Sarasota, Fla. The cause is under investigation.
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection aircraft spotted the men floating in the water and relayed the coordinates to the Coast Guard, which had launched an MH-65C Dolphin helicopter from its air station in Belle Chasse.
The Coast Guard copter crew found the men and hoisted them from the water.
