We've told you that blizzard moving across the New England today may be historic.
Wes Junker, of the Capital Weather Gang, explained the science behind the storm. Essentially, he writes, this storm is powered by two interacting "'jet streaks,' or packets of energy within the different streams."
Now, for these two things to come together is extremely rare and when they do come together over New England, it'll cause a "meteorological bomb" that will dump more than two feet of snow in some areas, writes Junker.
