On Election Day, voters around the country will decide on a number of issues that could affect the local economy.

In Colorado and Oregon, ballot measures would require labeling of genetically-modified foods. Big companies like Coca-Cola and Monsanto have stepped in to oppose the measures.

In Massachusetts, there’s a vote to reject a state law that allows casinos. It’s gotten the attention of MGM and Wynn Resorts.

Recreational marijuana, which brings about questions of regulation and taxes, will be on the ballot in Washington, D.C., Alaska and Oregon.

NPR’s Marilyn Geewax joins Here & Now‘s Jeremy Hobson to discuss these ballot questions and their potential effect on business.
