New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu is preparing to deliver the State of the City Address later this morning. Here's what to expect.
The State of the City Address is traditionally a chance for the mayor to release a report card.
University of New Orleans political science professor Ed Chervenak says he expects to hear updates on several subjects.
“I think that the mayor will continue to talk about the economic renaissance in the city, that we’ve turned a corner; we’re a much more business-friendly city than we used to be. So I think he’s going to try and accentuate the positive. However, he’s going to have to deal, obviously, with the issue of crime because that’s the number one issue on people’s minds.”
Landrieu skipped the address last year for remarks at his second inauguration in May. In 2013, he outlined major building projects, like a new airport and a revamped World Trade Center, that are now in the planning stages.
