St. John deputies kill two in Reserve
The St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff's office says deputies killed a man and a woman who threatened them with weapons.
A news release says the deputies answered a report of a disturbance Tuesday evening and found the man and woman in a confrontation with a weapon.
It says both turned out to be armed and each was shot while heading toward the deputies with a weapon. Both died at River Parish Hospital.
Trooper Melissa Matey, a spokeswoman for Louisiana State Police, says the sheriff's office asked state police to investigate. She said Wednesday that she was trying to get other details, including the dead people's identities and what sort of weapons they had.
