Sonnier: shelters have plenty of formula, diapers

The secretary of Louisiana's Children and Family Services Department says state shelters for Hurricane Isaac evacuees have plenty of diapers, milk and baby formula available for those who need it.

Suzy Sonnier said Saturday the department has taken steps to help evacuees with small children, not only with supplies but with structured activities for youngsters.

Some evacuees have complained about cleanliness at an Alexandria shelter but Sonnier said she has received no complaints, adding that the state has contracted with janitorial services to help keep the shelters clean.
