Mountain Stage
Rosi Golan.

Rosi Golan makes her first appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded live in Charleston, W.V. Born in Israel, Golan learned to speak French, English and Hebrew during her travels. But she didn't pick up a guitar until she was 19, after hearing a radio commercial advertising a sale at a local Guitar Center. Golan hasn't looked back, writing and singing songs for more than 10 years and cultivating her ear for dark, haunting melodies.

Golan's first album, The Drifter & The Gypsy, found an audience quickly, with its songs popping up on multiple television shows. Her Mountain Stage set is drawn from her second album, Lead Balloon — including its title track and "Fly Away," which wasn't part of the Mountain Stage radio broadcast. She's accompanied on lead guitar by Aaron Lee Tasjan.

Golan is followed by Mountain Stage host Larry Groce's tribute to Irene McKinney, West Virginia's Poet Laureate, who died earlier in the year.

This performance was originally published on April 26, 2012.
