From veteran composer John Williams, to first-time nominee Jonny Greenwood, the quest to win the Oscar for Best Original Score at this year's upcoming Academy Awards promises to be one of the more interesting competitive categories of the evening.
John Williams has now received 51 Oscar nominations -- "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is his 51st -- the most by any living person. Jonny Greenwood, member of the hugely influential band Radiohead, has received his first-ever Oscar nomination, for Paul Thomas Anderson's "Phantom Thread".
Former Oscar-winner Alexandre Desplat ("The Shape of Water"), the team of Benjamin Wallfisch & Hans Zimmer ("Dunkirk"), and two-time nominee Carter Burwell ("Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri") round out the category.
Friday evening at 6:00 p.m., join host James Arey for a special one-hour program dedicated to music from each of this year's Best Original Score nominees. He'll also highlight some previous Oscar-winning scores.
