New Orleans, La. – James O'Keefe is best known for dressing as a pimp near a hidden-video stunt he coordinated to embarrass the community-organizing group ACORN. In New Orleans, he and three others were arrested in January after allegedly trying to tamper with the phones in Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu's office. Two defendants are accused of dressing as telephone repair workers while O'Keefe recorded the encounter. He and the others were initially charged with entering a federal building with intent to commit a felony. O'Keefe has said he was investigating complaints by some Landrieu constituents that they couldn't get through to comment on the health care bill she supported. The new charge could be a sign that a plea deal has been reached for the four defendants. For NPR News, I'm Eileen Fleming in New Orleans.
