The groups join together in performing Vaughan Williams' Five Mystical Songs and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D Minor.

Orchestra conductor Clay Couturiaux says the chorus is featured throughout the Williams piece and a stirring conclusion to Beethoven's 9th.  "The orchestra builds in the first three movements of the symphony, and culminates in the fourth with the resounding chorus," says Couturiaux.

Chorusmaster Deborah Chandler says the performance marks a milestone for the vocal group.  "This marks 10 years for the Monroe Symphony Chorus.  To join to orchestra and conclude with a piece like Beethoven's 9th, is really something special," she said.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Jack Howard Theatre.
