New Orleans, La. – U-S Senator David Vitter and other Republicans have been complaining that the proposed medical center is too ambitious. Governor Bobby Jindal says he still supports the new teaching hospital and research facility. But he's encouraging the board to look at other options, including scaling back the plans, or building in stages. A letter sent by a JP Morgan Chase executive to the Housing and Urban Development hospital facility office says the process has dragged on for eight months. He left open a possibility of resubmitting a request for mortgage insurance in the future. The medical center governing board wants a final plan for the hospital finished in September.
