Mayor's Speech Gets Good Grade

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s second State of the City address is getting high marks from one expert.

University of New Orleans political science professor Ed Chervenak says Landrieu gave an honest assessment of what his administration has done.

“It’s good for the mayor to get out there and give a report card on what he’s done. You know, he’s the one who gives the report card. He gives the speech so then that gives him the advantage. And I don’t think there was any kind of embellishment of any record or anything. I think he does have a real strong record to run on. I’ll give him an A-minus. He did very well. You know, I’m a pretty tough grader. Ask my students.”

Landrieu delivered the speech at the Mahalia Jackson Theater in Armstrong Park.
