Inside The Arts: Mardi Gras Flambeaux, Venetian Treasures

This week on Inside the Arts, it’s Carnival time!  We take a look at New Orleans’s complicated history with the Mardi Gras flambeaux through the eyes of writer Rien Fertel. His essay, The Keepers of the Light is featured in the spring issue of Oxford American magazine. http://www.oxfordamerican.org/magazine/item/1103-the-keepers-of-the-light

And, a new exhibit at the New Orleans Museum of Art  takes us to another city surrounded by water and famous throughout the world for its celebration of Mardi Gras. We look at the pageantry of Venetian life through paintings, Carnival masks and other treasures.

Airs Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m. and Thursdays at 8:45 a.m.
