Hornets Sign Henry Sims to 10-Day Contract
The New Orleans Hornets announced the signing of center-forward Henry Sims to a 10-day contract yesterday.
The Hornets have been light on big men, with Anthony Davis out for two games with a shoulder injury, and are now without reserve forward Jason Smith. Smith will undergo surgery for a torn labrum in his right shoulder and will be out for the rest of the season.
Sims is an undrafted rookie out of Georgetown. He was signed by the Knicks on a short-term contract during the preseason, but released just over a month later.
Sims started 36 games for the Erie Bayhawks of the NBA Development League, averaging 17.1 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 32.8 minutes per game. He was named to the D-League All-Star game this year.
In college Sims plaqyed all four years, averaging 4.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.78 blocks per game over 121 games.
