Get your cackle on for the Louisiana Chicken Festival in Dubach.
The Ruston Daily Leader reports the festival is the last Friday and Saturday in September, starting with a talent contest the evening of Friday, Sept. 28. The top 12 entries will compete Saturday evening.
Other events Saturday include a strut, cackle and crow contest, a chicken cooking contest and a drumstick-eating contest.
There's also a dog show, quilt raffle, cakewalk and a stick horse rodeo.
The Dubach Restoration and Beautification Society created the festival in the early 1990s, and the Legislature named it the official state chicken festival in 1995.
Events leading up to the festival include a beauty pageant and domino tournament on Sept. 22.
