Freeze Plan For The Homeless In Effect Thursday Night

New Orleans has activated a freeze plan for the homeless tonight, in preparation for a drop in temperatures in the area.

New Orleans has activated a freeze plan for the homeless for Thursday night, in preparation for a drop in temperatures in the area. The temperature is expected to fall below 35 degrees.

A statement from the city encourages citizens to check on their neighbors and the elderly to make sure they are prepared for the weather.

The City's freeze plan also provides beds for homeless citizens at various shelters throughout the city. The following locations are accepting people needing shelter:

The Salvation Army (4530 South Claiborne Ave.) – accepting males and females beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Ozanam Inn (843 Camp St.) – accepting males only beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Covenant House (611 North Rampart St.) - accepting males and females ages16-21, their dependent children, and any female with children. Mothers with small children may come anytime

New Orleans Mission (1130 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.) – accepting male or female adults beginning at 4:00 p.m.

During the freeze plan, city shelters are free of charge.
